Oak-Isle of Wight Photographic Society
2 October @ 10:00 am - 30 November @ 4:00 pm

IWPS is celebrating its 80th anniversary, the symbol for which is the oak. They have taken “The Oak” as a theme for a members’ challenge:
To capture images of anything OAK e.g. trees, leaves, furniture, carvings, timber frames, barrels, doors - to use their imagination. 13 photographers embraced the challenge and a total of 52 images were submitted ranging from straight shots of oak trees, acorns etc. to oak furniture to creative images.
The Isle of Wight Photographic Society (IWPS) extends a warm welcome to all with an interest in photography, at whatever level, interest or equipment used.
The aim of the Society is to encourage its members to improve their photography and broaden their photographic horizons and members support each other to achieve this.
They meet on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Arreton Community Hall, via Zoom or a combination of both, depending upon the activity. Thier season runs from September to May and, in addition, they get together for photo meets throughout the summer. The IWPS programme includes projected image and print competitions, practical sessions, both with camera and editing, photowalks, opportunities for sharing, speakers and presentations. They are a member of the Southern Counties Photographic Federation and, as such enter the projected image league and the annual exhibition and championships.
They hold annual exhibitions at Ryde Library and Brading Roman Villa, and more recently at Dimbola Museum and Galleries
